Spacious mountain farm with grazing for all seasons

The farm is situated 65km west from Cradock (between Cradock and Graaff-Reinet)
The total size of the farm is 4,534ha. The 9 parcels of land constituting the farm are all adjacent.

It is a summer rainfall area with snow in the winter. This ensures that all fountains and underground water table remains strong whole year round. The average annual rainfall is 425mm.

Topography and Veld type
The topography consists of mountains, randjies, vlei`s and other low-lying areas – all these are responsible for a wide variety of plant species which includes mixed shrubs like “Daggapit” and sweet grass like “Vinger Grass” in the lower areas; and “Rooigras” and sour grass veld in the higher areas. The farm is therefor able to sustain animals throughout the winter. This is a warm farm with mostly North and North East facing slopes with numerous strong fountains ample for cattle, sheep and game. No windmills are necessary.

Irrigation and Planted Pasture
There is +/-35ha land (planted pasture) which is divided into 13 camps. 15ha of these camps are under flood irrigation. The rest of the 20ha are high water table dry land. The fountains are active all year round and there are 6 bore holes – this makes it possible to transform the 35ha land into irrigated land powered by solar panels. The flood lands are currently being irrigated by 3 irrigation dams.

Carrying Capacity & Livestock
The carrying capacity is calculated at 326LSU.

The following livestock are currently being farmed with on the farm.
1000 Merino ewes with lambs
300 Young Merino ewes
60 Beef Cattle cows with calves
10 Beef heifers

The land is divided into 16 camps. All the camps have fountains for stock watering all year round.

There is a newly built sheepfold/’kraal’.

This farm is extremely suitable for game. This is due to the topography and grass varieties which accommodate a wide variety of game. The following game currently roams the farm:
1. Kudu’s
2. Blesbuck
3. Mountain Reedbuck (Rooi Ribbok)
4. Grey Rhebuck (Vaal Ribbok)
5. Chamois (Klipspringers)
6. Duiker
7. Steenbok
8. Eland
9. Blue Wildebeest

There are also partridges and guinea fowl to be found on the farm.

There is a very good network of roads that stretches the whole of the farm. On strategic places on the farm, infrastructure was created to preserve the marshes. The entire border fencing as well as some of the inner fences ware “jackal-proofed”. All the other fences are generally in a good condition. All the veld types are grouped together in separate camps, e.g. the slopes (randjies).

There is no house on the property which allows for you to design and build your dream house.

There is a newly overhauled sheering shed with a store room. There are also 3 workers houses.

The farm is surrounded by mountains and there is only one access road (24km from the tar road), this makes it safe, with less chance of theft and poaching

Permanent water diverted from the Orange River has given stability that many other rural areas lack in that the periodic devastating droughts are made less severe by the Lucerne and maize that is grown and that the farmers are able to produce winter grazing for their animals.
