Welcome to Seeff Scottburgh

Scottburgh is situated 58km south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal. It is a quaint village nestled alongside stretches of shoreline washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean with white sandy beaches, lush indigenous forests and magnificent rolling hills. Scottburgh is a coastal resort town located on the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is situated on the mouth of the Mpambanyoni River. Neighbouring towns include Pennington, Renishaw, Freeland Park, Umkomaas, Sezela, Bazley, Amahlongwa, Amandawe Mission, Clansthal, Park Rynie and Dududu

Scottburgh is home to thousands of bird species including the brilliantly coloured Knysna and Purple-crested Lourie and a wide variety of waterfowl, vervet monkeys, dolphins and whales. Interestingly, King Shaka and his entourage were amongst some of the early visitors to this area. When stopping to rest and drink from a nearby spring, he was distracted by the myriad of birds at the mouth of the river beside which the town was later to be built. He was amazed at how each bird would know to which nest it should return and named the river "Mpanbonyoni" which translates to "Confuser of Birds". A plaque to commemorate this event was erected at the site of the spring.

Scottburgh is a thriving coastal resort and a perfect holiday destination. With a year round sub-tropical climate and warm waters, it is an ideal snorkelling, swimming, diving and surfing destination. It also boasts a fine selection of accommodation establishments, restaurants and after dark activities.

There are also many interesting attractions. A main appeal lies with Scottburgh's sheltered bathing beach named Scott Bay. The beach boasts a vast expanse of terraced lawns and expansive sandy beaches as well as an inviting tidal and paddling pool, supertube and miniature railway. A perfect getaway for families.

The Green Point Lighthouse is another attraction. It is a national monument that was erected in 1905 and is situated on a hilltop opposite Blamey's Bay. It beams out a powerful warning to passing ships of the dangers of the Aliwal Shoal.

Take a trip to Crocworld and witness over 10 000 crocodiles as well as raptors, snakes, tortoises, waterbirds and flamingos in a beautiful, natural setting. Be a sport and visit the 18-hole Scottburgh Golf Course. This beautiful gold course boasts rolling fairways offering an unparalleled view of the Indian Ocean as well as two Par 5 and five Par 3 holes.

Mountain biking routes near Scottburgh will delight any MTB lover. Rocky Bay Resort, surrounded by beaches, indigenous forests and rolling hills, offers a network of mountain bike trails that run through sugar-cane fields, indigenous bush and coastal forest, allowing you to explore this beautiful region on your iron steed. There are three routes (17 km, 27 km and 35 km) with a varying terrain of hard-pack gravel farm roads and a smooth single-track.

Scottburgh is one of the fortunate towns that get to host the annual Sardine Run on the coast of KwaZulu-Natal. It is an amazing sight, and usually takes place some time during the months of May, June or July. Locals can help grab nets to pull in the thousands of sardines that make their way along the coast, which are used by fishermen as bait for sold as a tasty braai snack. You’ll most likely spot some whales close by as you observe the spectacle.
