Trichardt at a glance
Trichardt is a small town of just over 25 km² in the Mpumalanga province that was proclaimed in 1906 as a settlement of the Dutch Reformed Church. The town is named after Carolus Johannes Trichardt, the son of Voortrekker Louis Trichardt. Trichardt is located 34 km west of Bethal and next door to Secunda. It holds around 1 100 households with a population of just below 4 000. People prefer to stay in Trichardt and Terra Nova due to the more rural environment and relaxed atmosphere, yet just next door to Secunda.
Trichardt is well known for it's up-market properties, which originally belonged to professionals such as attorneys and doctors of the neighbouring towns. The main business district is old, but several private businesses are dominating the area. Timbercity and A&E Hyperworld are amongst the longest standing businesses and still highly profitable. Consumers mostly travel to Secunda for general household and retail shopping.
Trichardt offers affordable housing in security complexes, as well as up-market properties that range from large, older homes that are modernised, to brand new luxury homes. Laerskool Trichardt was established in 1912 and is still running as a double medium school.
The Trichardtsfontein Dam is an earth-fill type dam located on the Trichardtspruit just outside the town. It was established in 1981 and serves mainly for municipal and industrial water supply purposes. Locals enjoy the outside environment and spend days fishing, sailing and getting together with their families. During summer the highveld fields are covered with beautiful white and pink cosmos flowers.
Terra Nova, a new town development on the Northern side of Trichardt, brought new life into the area with the establishment of various security complexes, a Retirement Village and the Terra Nova Mall. Seeff has an office in the Mall and clients can visit us to view the ongoing developments in Terra Nova, Trichardt and the surrounding areas.
