This township was chaired by Sir Abe Bailey, whose London home was in Bryanston Square - and this is how Bryanston got its name. The London theme is evident throughout Bryanston, with most streets named after the streets and squares of England's capital.

Few people know that the name "Sandton" was derived from a combination of the suburb names "Sandhurst" and "Bryanston."

Distance to airports, main roads, and the CBD

Getting to O. R. Tambo International Airport from home will also take a Bryanston resident about half an hour, with around 35 km to be travelled. Lanseria International Airport is slightly closer in terms of distance (approximately 25 km), but this trip will also take about 30 minutes in average traffic conditions.
