An interesting historical anecdote with regard to Baillie Park itself is its mention in AJ Brooks' novel The Border, in which it is mentioned as the much-loved home of two of its protagonists in a tale about South Africa's border wars of the 1980s.
As part of the larger City of Potchefstroom, Baillie Park enjoys hot summers, during which it receives most of its rainfall, and cooler winters in which the days are mild but the nights are cold. The average temperatures in the coldest months of June and July range from maximums of 22°C to minimums of just 1°C. In summer, the mercury can climb up to 31°C on an average day, with temperatures dropping to around 16°C at night.
