A brief history of the area 

Kommetjie has always been seen as an influential town. Founded by businessmen in 1902, it was developed into a residential suburb to be part of Cape Town, with modernisation elevating the town it was given municipal status in the 1960s. Kommetjie is the Afrikaans name for "small basin". It certainly lives up to its name by providing a niche area for the best surfing and fishing to be found in the Western Cape.   

Distance from key points (Airport/CBD) 

Cape Town International Airport is approximately 46 minutes (48,3 km) away via the M3. The CBD is also less than an hour away, making Kommetjie an easily accessible area for all. The many routes and highways that feed into Kommetjie are convenient for those travelling to and from the city or the Winelands. 

Climate 

As is typical with Cape Town weather, Kommetjie experiences windy conditions year-round. With chilly winters seeing temperatures drop to 8°C-15°C, the area makes up for it with lovely summer weather. In the warmer months prepare for temperatures ranging between 26°C-35°C. You can cool down in the Atlantic Ocean and catch huge waves on your surfboard or go trail hiking in the mountains.
