Established in 1905 as an intended racing centre, Goodwood was named after a racecourse in England. The founders soon abandoned the idea and built railway stations instead. Cape Town International Airport is approximately 20 minutes (10,2 km) away via the M12. Getting to the CBD will take you roughly the same amount of time via the N1.
