Valhalla at a glance

The suburb of Valhalla which is situated to the North of Centurion is one of the more established areas of Pretoria. Although Valhalla actually falls under Pretoria (Tshwane) many people think that it is part of Centurion. The suburb was originally very popular with people who worked for the Defence Force in the military base of Voortrekkerhoogte, now Thaba Tshwana. In fact, many of the residents today are military personnel. The suburb consists of approximately2003houses and 194 townhouses. The suburb is popular with the middle class as it is very close to Pretoria city. The type of properties varies and includes houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters, , security estates and new developments. The freehold stands range in size from 750 sm to 4,066 sm. The price of houses ranges from R800,000 to R2,000,000 (2012) (Average of R1,192,000) whilst the price of townhouses ranges from R570,000 to R840 000 (2012) (Average of R 705 000 ).The price of Vacant stands ranges from R350,000 to R682,000 (2012) (Average of R468,000). The suburb is bordered by the Alaric Road (Thaba Tshwana) to the North, Zwartkop Nature Reserve to the West, Old Johannesburg Road (R101) to the East and Glen Lauriston (Wierda Road, M10) to the South.

Due to the fact that Valhalla is one of the older suburbs in Centurion, most of the properties have large well established wooded gardens on large stands. Residents prefer Valhalla for its convenient location to the city centre, variety of dwellings, tranquil environment bordering on the Zwartkop Nature Reserve and the fact that there is very little building activity in the area.

Valhalla has a number of smaller shopping centres that contain all the necessary shops. However, the surrounding suburbs of Clubview, Eldoraigne and Wierda Park all have numerous shopping centres. Valhalla also has the usual cafes and convenience stores.

Sports facilities in Valhalla include karate, dance, baseball and tennis, whilst the neighbouring suburbs offer many other sports facilities such as chess, golf, running, bowls, snooker, walking, squash, horse riding, pigeon racing, ballet, gymnastics and badminton etc .

Being an older established suburb, Valhalla has a total of three parks and public places, but the Montague Keen Park is a huge tract of land located in the centre of Valhalla. The closest Post Office is the Valhalla Post Office on Broadway Road. The library is situated in the Wahof centre, Hekla Road. Valhalla has no Guesthouses but the surrounding suburbs have many which are reasonably priced.
