Kosmosdal at a glance

The suburb of Kosmosdal which is situated to the South of Centurion has a combination of established and new Estates as well as a huge amount of undeveloped land. A lot of the development currently taking place in Centurion is happening in Kosmosdal. It is a beautiful area with typical highveld weather, with easy access to the Highways, offering rural living but being close to all amenities. The main Estates found in Kosmosdal include the Blue Valley Golf and Country Estate, Valley View Estate, Brooklands Lifestyle Estate, Summer Field Estate, Cosmosview Estate, Highwinds Estate, Arundo Estate . The type of properties varies and includes houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters, guesthouses, security estates and new developments. The property owners in Kosmosdal are all fairly stable as the majority of Estates except for Blue Valley Golf and Country Estate and Valley View Estates are less than ten years old.

The suburb is bordered by The Reeds to the North, Rietspruit to the West, Ben Schoeman Freeway (N1) to the East and approximately Summit Road (R562) to the South.

Due to the fact that Kosmosdal is one of the newer suburbs in Centurion, most of the properties have unestablished gardens, although some gardens already boast big trees.

Shopping Centres in the immediate vicinity include the Reds Mall, Grey Owl Village Mall, Square at Midstream, Panorama Centre, Rooihuiskraal Centre, Centurion Mall, Blue Valley Mall and the San Ridge Mall. The area also has a number of smaller shopping centres with the usual cafes and convenience stores.

Sports facilities in the neighbouring suburbs include ballet, dance, virgin active gym, golf course, golf driving range, karate, mashie golf course, squash and tennis, whilst the neighbouring suburbs of Rooihuiskraal North, Wierda Park and Eldoraigne offers many other sports facilities.

Kosmosdal is central to a number of schools including Southdown’s College (Private School), Midstream College (Private School), Rooihuiskraal Primary, Uitsig Primary Uitsig High, Eldoraigne High, Zwartkop High, Bakenkop Primary, Hennopspark Primary, Springvale Primary and Wierda Park Primary. There are also forty Nursery Schools and crèches in The Reeds and Rooihuiskraal.

The neighbouring suburbs of Rooihuiskraal and The Reeds have parks and public places, many of which follow the Rietspruit which runs between the two suburbs. The closest Post Boxes are in Rooihuiskraal whilst the Post Office is in Bothrill Road, The Reeds. The library is situated in Tiptolhoekie, Rooihuiskraal. The Reeds has three Guesthouses, namely the Melody Guesthouse, Arbez Home Lodge and Chillies and Carnations Guesthouse whilst Rooihuiskraal has one Guesthouse, namely The Clubhouse B&B.

Churches in the area include Baptist, Gereformeerde, NG, AGS, Christ is the way, New Life, Methodist, Apostolic, etc. The Unitas hospital is about 8km from Kosmosdal, the Highveld Medical Centre about 5km, the Southdown’s Medical Centre about 5km and the Medipark Medical Centre is in Panorama Road, Rooihuiskraal. The Provincial clinic is situated in Tiptol Road, Rooihuiskraal.

Kosmosdal also offers easy access to the N1 and N14, for commuters travelling by car to either Pretoria, Midrand, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Krugersdorp, OR Tambo International Airport as well as Lanseria Airport.

The closest police stations are the Wierda Bridge Police Station situated in Valhalla, Lyttelton Police station situated in Lyttelton or the Midrand Police station in Halfway House.
