Eldoraigne at a glance

The suburb of Eldoraigne is one of the older well established suburbs in Centurion, positioned west of the old Johannesburg road and fits the bill in terms of an up-market location also known as a “Fashion Café society”. It is a popular suburb with large established trees, incredible birdlife with a mild climate, and is centrally situated. Today the suburb consists of approximately 2,600 houses and 1,300 townhouses. However, more important than the exclusive appeal of this very popular suburb is its central location to all attractions and amenities in Centurion. The types of properties available include houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters, guesthouses, security estates and new developments. The freehold stands range in size from 350 sm to 2,600 sm. The price of houses ranges from R1, 100,000 to R7, 200, 000 (2012) and the price of townhouses from R660, 000 to R1, 900,000 (2012). The cost of vacant land varies from R370, 000 to 900,000 (2012). The suburb is extremely stable in that 70% of the residents have lived in their current house for more than 5 years. Within Eldoraigne are some very popular Estates such as Eldo Falls Estate, Eldo Glen Estate, Eldo Manor Estate, Eldo Meadows Estate, Eldo Park Estate, Eldo Three Manor Estate, Eldo View Estate, Eldo Village Estate, Eldo Ridge Estate and Eldo Villas Estate. The Hennops River meanders along the Northern boundary of Eldoraigne.

The suburb is bounded by Wierda Road (M10) to the North, the Old Johannesburg Road (R101) to the East, Wierda Park to the West and Hendrik Verwoerd Drive (M25) to the South. Eldoraigne also lies close to major highways – such as the N14 to Krugersdorp and the Ben Schoeman Highway. As a result it is within easy reach of Gauteng’s attractions and amenities.

Close to Eldoraigne are the Sunderland Ridge Industrial Park as well as the Head Office of Mercedes Benz and the Bondev Business Park. The area has a number of smaller shopping malls in the immediate vicinity which include Eldo Village, The Shoprite Centre (Wierda Park), The Mall @ Reds, Lifestyle Centre and the Checkers Shopping Centre in Rooihuiskraal. On the busier roads such Saxby Ave and Willem Botha many of the homes have been converted into business properties housing Legal practices, Estate agencies, Vets, IT training organizations and a plethora of small businesses.

The area is blessed with excellent schools such as Bakkenkop Laer, Eldoraigne Hoër, Sutherland High as well as many primary schools in surrounding areas of Valhalla, Hennopspark and Wierda Park. In the heart of Eldoraigne you will find sports clubs which offers tennis, gymnastics, wrestling and martial arts. Adjacent to these facilities is the Eldoraigne Public library. Within a 4-5km radius of Eldoraigne is the world class Unitas hospital, and the Eldoraigne Medicross clinic is situated on the corner of Saxby Avenue and Frederik Road. A number of Nurseries are also located in the area.

Eldoraigne also lies close to major highways offering easy access to commuters travelling to either Pretoria or Johannesburg, via the Ben Schoeman Highway (N1) or the Old Johannesburg Road (R101), whilst Krugersdorp is also easily accessible via the N14. Therefore its residents are within easy reach of Gauteng’s attractions and amenities. The Centurion Gautrain Station is within 5km of Eldoraigne

The following Churches can be found in the area: Eldoraigne NG Familie Kerk, NG Kerk Wierda Park and Nederduitse Hervormde Kerk. There are two Retirement Homes in Eldoraigne namely Kiepersol and Lions Haven. The Bondev conference and wedding centre is located in Wierda Road, and many guest houses such as Beulah Oasis, Ngena, La Gratitude, Thatch Haven, Durham, Shemariah, Aandbloem, De Oude Herberg and Agami are located in the area.

In Wierda Road is the Hennops River Nature Reserve and caravan park. To the North of Eldoraigne are the Zwartkops Raceway and the Zwartkops Nature Reserve. The closest Police station is Wierda Bridge, situated in Valhalla, whilst the Post Office is in Wierda Park. A PostNet is located in the Eldoraigne Village Shopping Centre.
