Doringkloof at a glance

The suburb of Doringkloof is one of the more established areas of Centurion with beautiful gardens and plenty of trees. The suburb consists of approximately 1,100 houses and 270 townhouses. The suburb is popular as it is very centrally situated in Centurion with the Doringkloof Mall and Centurion Mall providing over 200 shops of all types. In addition a number of smaller Malls are found within the surrounding areas. The type of properties varies and includes houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters, guesthouses, security estates and new developments. The freehold stands range in size from 900 sm to 2,000 sm. The price of houses ranges from R995,000 to R4,250,000 (2012) (Average of R1,277,000) whilst the price of townhouses ranges from R460,000 to R1,300,000 (2012) (Average of R685,000). Very few vacant stands are available and those that are available sell for approximately R600,000 (2012). The property owners in Doringkloof are extremely stable as 78% of the owners have lived in their houses for more than 5 years.

The suburb is bordered by Limpopo Avenue to the North (Lyttelton), by Alexandra Road to the South, Botha Avenue (M18) to the East, and Leoni Street to the West (Die Hoewes).

Due to the fact that Doringkloof is one of the older suburbs in Centurion, most of the properties have large well established wooded gardens. People prefer Doringkloof for its convenient location, variety of dwellings, tranquil environment and the fact that there is very little building activity in the area. Doringkloof boasts a long standing, very successful Neighbourhood watch system.

Shopping Centres in the immediate vicinity include the Centurion Mall, Doringkloof Mall, Lyttelton Centre, Southdown’s Mall, Eco Park Mall and the Centurion Crescent Centre. Close by is the Supersport Park complex which is home to the Titans cricket team.

Sports facilities in Doringkloof include pilates, bowls and tennis, whilst the neighbouring suburbs of Lyttelton, Irene and Die Hoewes offers many other sports facilities.

Doringkloof is central to a number of schools including Southdown’s College (Private School), Doringkloof Primary, Centurion High, Lyttelton Manor High, Fleur Primary, Cornwall Hill College (Private School) Louis Leipolt Primary, Zwartkop High, Hennopspark Primary and Lyttelton Primary. There are also eight Nursery Schools and crèches in Doringkloof.

Being an older established suburb, Doringkloof has a total of nine parks and public places, many of which follow the spruit that runs through the middle of Doringkloof. The closest Post Office is the Postnet in the Doringkloof Mall as well as the Lyttelton post office in Cradock Avenue. The closest library is in Cantonments Road in Lyttelton. The following Guesthouses are located in Doringkloof: Doringkloof Guest House, Habitat Guest House and Acacia Lodge.

Churches in the area include Dutch Reformed (NG Kerk), Jacobs Well Youth Ministry and the Seventh Day Adventist church. The surrounding areas of Irene and Lyttelton have all the usual churches including Baptist, Anglican, Catholic, Presbyterian and Methodist etc. The Unitas hospital is about 5km from Doringkloof, the Highveld Medical Centre about 4km, the Southdown’s Medical Centre about 6km and the Doringkloof Medicross is in Jean Avenue.

The Gautrain station in West Street in Centurion is within 4 km of Doringkloof, making it very easy for commuters to access the train. There is a dedicated Gautrain bus service running through Doringkloof. Doringkloof also offers easy access to the N1 and N14, for commuters travelling by car to either Pretoria, Midrand, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Krugersdorp, OR Tambo International Airport as well as Lanseria Airport.

The closest police station is the Lyttelton Police Station situated in Basden Street, Lyttelton.
