Die Hoewes at a glance

The suburb of Die Hoewes is one of the more established areas of Centurion being located alongside the Centurion CBD, with beautiful gardens and plenty of trees. The suburb consists of approximately 230 houses and 6,197 townhouses. The suburb is popular as it is very centrally situated in Centurion with the Centurion Mall providing over 200 shops of all types. The type of properties varies and includes houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters, guesthouses, security estates and new developments. The freehold stands range in size from 660 sm to 1,200 sm. The price of houses ranges from R950,000 to R1,640,000 (2012) (Average of R1,200,000) whilst the price of townhouses ranges from R445,000 to R1,400,000 (2012) (Average of R720,000). Vacant stands are available from R510,000 to 667,000 (2012) (Average R592,000). The property owners in Die Hoewes are stable as 70% of the owners have lived in their houses for more than 5 years.

The suburb is bordered by Wierda Road and Trichardt Avenue (M10) to the North by Doringkloof to the South, Lyttelton Manor to the East, and Centurion CBD/Zwartkop/Ben Schoeman Freeway (N1) to the West.

Due to the fact that Die Hoewes is one of the older suburbs in Centurion, most of the freehold properties have large well established wooded gardens. The majority of properties in Die Hoewes are sectional title townhouses and apartments. Die Hoewes is preferred for its convenient location to the Centurion CBD, variety of dwellings, tranquil environment and the fact that there is very little building activity in the area.

Shopping Centres in the immediate vicinity include the Centurion Mall, Doringkloof Mall, Lyttelton Centre, Southdown’s Mall, Eco Park Mall and the Centurion Crescent Centre. Close by is the Supersport Park complex where cricket is played and which is home to the Titans cricket team.

Sports facilities in Die Hoewes and the neighbouring suburbs include pilates, tennis, action cricket, cycling, netball, baseball, karate, rugby, dance, bowls, athletics, shooting, bowls and gymnastics.

Die Hoewes is central to a number of schools including Southdown’s College (Private School), Doringkloof Primary, Lyttelton Manor High, Fleur Primary, Cornwall Hill College (Private School) Louis Leipolt Primary, Zwartkop High, Hennopspark Primary and Lyttelton Primary. There are also two Nursery Schools and crèches in Die Hoewes and another eight in Doringkloof.

Being an older established suburb, Die Hoewes has access to a total of nine parks and public places, many of which follow the Hennops River that flows between Die Hoewes and Zwartkop. The closest Post Office is the Postnet in the Doringkloof Mall and the Centurion Post Office in the Centurion Mall. The closest library is in Cantonments Road in Lyttelton. The following Guest Houses are located in Die Hoewes: Die Hoewes Self catering and Ambrosia Gardens Guest House.

Churches in the area include NG Church, Jacobs Well Youth Ministry and the Seventh Day Adventist church. The surrounding areas of Doringkloof, Irene and Lyttelton have all the usual churches including Baptist, Anglican, Catholic, Presbyterian and Methodist etc. The Unitas hospital is about 4km from Die Hoewes, the Highveld Medical Centre about 3km, the Southdown’s medical Centre about 6km and the Doringkloof Medicross is in Jean Avenue, Doringkloof.

The Gautrain station in West Street in Centurion will be situated in Die Hoewes, making it very easy for commuters to access the train. Die Hoewes also offers easy access to the N1 and N14, for commuters travelling by car to either Pretoria, Midrand, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Krugersdorp, OR Tambo International Airport as well as Lanseria Airport.

The closest police station is the Lyttelton Police Station situated in Basden Street, Lyttelton.
