Copperleaf Estate at a glance

The Copperleaf Golf and Country Estate is one of Gauteng's premier golfing Estates and is home to the first Ernie Els signature golf course in Gauteng. The Estate is situated on Ernie Els' grandfather's farm (Oupa Vermaak), Knoppieslaagte with unparalleled views of the Magaliesberg Mountains. The farm was originally purchased by the great grandfather in 1917 and was 690 ha in extent. Work on the Estate began in 2004, and the golf course was opened on 25 November 2007. It is the longest in South Africa, being 7,630m. The Estate covers an area of 300ha, and a number of the surrounding farms totaling 400ha have also been purchased by the developers and will eventually be incorporated into the Estate. More than half of the Estate has been designated to the golf course, parks, dams, wetlands and green belts. Once fully developed the Estate will consist of 1153 full title stands.

The Estate boasts state of the art security consisting of closed circuit surveillance cameras, access control, electric perimeter fence and alarm system as well as security guards. The integration of technology and security is world class. All the houses on the Estate are linked to the control room. The perimeter fence of 8km is regularly patrolled. The Control room has monitors covering all aspects of the Estate from 32 cameras. The Estate also has a back up generator of 172KVA for emergencies.

The aim in designing the Estate was to offer homeowners a distinguished lifestyle and unparalleled standard of living. Facilities on the Estate include the following; wellness centre, health centre, tennis courts, squash courts, spa, gym, children's centre, driving range, swimming pools, cricket pavilion, walking and jogging trails, Ernie Vermaak Heritage club, Copperleaf restaurant, bar , Golf performance centre, and a pro shop. The long term plan is to offer commercial, medical, garden centre, and retail facilities on land bordering the estate. Zoning has already been approved for this. The Estate lies in an agricultural area to the west of Centurion, but as development takes place over the next few tears, the Estate will be will be a lot closer to the suburbs of Centurion. Already areas such as Stone Ridge Estate, Heuweloord and Heuwelsig Estate are no more than 5km away.

The Estate is popular as it is very centrally situated with easy access to Centurion, Pretoria, Midrand, Krugersdorp and Johannesburg as well as to the two international airports. The Estate consists solely of freehold stands which range in size from 600 sm to 1,234 sm. The price of houses ranges from R3,000,000 to R4,500,000 (2012) whilst the price of stands ranges from R325,000 to R1,165,000 (2012).

The suburb is bordered approximately by the old Krugersdorp Pretoria Road (R114/M34) to the South, the R511 to the West, Mnandi AH to the East and Knopjeslaagte to the North. The Estate is 12 km from Fourways, 22km from Midrand and 20km from the centre of Centurion. Access to the Estate is from West Road, which leads off the R114/M34.

Due to the Estates position on the West side of Centurion, it has easy access to shopping centres, schools, libraries, churches, hospitals, nursery schools etc in both Centurion and Fourways. The closest shopping centre is the Reds Mall which is 7km away. A number of private schools are located in Centurion as well as Fourways, which are accessible to Gardener Ross residents. Medical facilities nearby include the Unitas Hospital, Midrand Medical Centre, Carstenhof Clinic, Sunninghill Hospital and Fourways Intercare Centre.
