A brief history of the area 

Mouille Point gets its name from the French word for "anchoring ground". In the 18th century, when ships were often being swept ashore in the Table Bay region, the governor of the Cape decided that a breakwater was needed in the area. A lighthouse was built at Mouille point in 1842 and was later dismantled in the 1920s.

A trip to Cape Town International Airport from Mouille Point will take just over 20 minutes in average traffic, covering a distance of just over 20 km. Getting to Cape Town's City Centre means travelling just 4 km. Depending on traffic, this trip could take up to 15 minutes.

Climate 

As part of the Western Cape, residents of Mouille Point get to make the most of warm, dry summers. On a typical day in summer (December to February), temperatures in Mouille Point will rise into the high 20s or low 30s. The winter months (June to August) are significantly cooler, with temperatures typically in the mid to high teens. Like the rest of the Western Cape, Mouille Point gets its rainfall during winter.
