Philipstown Property - Northern Cape

Philipstown is situated where the Karoo highlands begin sloping down towards the Orange River. Before the white settlers arrived it was the place of the San (Bushmen) and, strangely enough, herds of rhino - as a number of rock engravings found in the area testify.

Philipstown had its real origins in 1878, with the establishment of the first church building for the local farming community. The church dominated the settlement while its eastern horizon was formed by two hills aptly called Die Pramberge (The Breasts). Die Pramperg feature prominently on the town crest. Philipstown has managed to retain its unique outward appearance from conception till today. It has remained primarily a sheep farming community.

Tourists passing through on holiday are entranced by the examples of old Karoo architecture you still come across in the town.

Considering its central location, the cheap houses, the opportunity is clearly knocking at the door of Philipstown.

Aangehaal uit die Personality tydskrif , Des 19. 1988. Onderdie opskrif "The dorp that refuses to die" Die artikel kon net sowel vandag geskryf gewees het aangesien die dorp sederdien amper onveranders gebly het.
