| Loxton Property - Northern Cape Province
Loxton is situated in the heart of the fertile, sheepfarming Karoo, between Victoria-West (80km) and Carnarvon (60km) en route to Namakwaland with its spectacular panorama with springflowering “carpets”. It is also +- 200km from Sutherland with South Africa’s worldknown observatory.
Loxton was found in 1899 when the Dutch Reformed Church bought a farm, Phezantefontein, from Mr. Loxton and named the town after him.
Loxton is a small and very neat village, abounding in the trees with water furrows on bothe sides of many streets. An oasis in die karoo landscape! These water furrows provide water to these residents from a fountain once a week for their gardens.
During recent years new residents (with various and intresting professions) from every corner of South Africa and even aboard bought a house in Loxton. They foud the peartrees in bloom along the streets, the frash air and the peacefulness of the town in its richly endowed environment too enticing to withstand. Not to mentioned the geniality and hospitality of the Loxtonners. Many of the houses they bought were built in the typical karoo style of the 1900 era and restored it beautifully.
Events like the Loxton show, motorcycle rallies and waterskiing on a nearby farm ( The ski-club) are not to be missed. All the necessities like a Clinic, Food- and Hardware Store, Church, Coffee Shop, Post Office, Library and Liquor Store are available. Our crime rate is so low that I don’t want to mentioned it. We also have a aerodrome a few kilometers from town.
Be inquisitive and visit Loxton! We are able to quench your thirst and still your hunger to freedom and fresh air. Guesthouses quarentee a good nights rest. We welcome you!
