Scottburgh is situated 58km south of the Cosmopolitan City of Durban. Neighboring towns include Pennington, Park Rynie, Freeland Park, Clansthal, Widenham and Umkomaas. Scottburgh saw the formation of the Borough of Scottburgh in 1964.

Scottburgh is renowned for its large surfing community and also boasts with the world famous Aliwal Shoal where scuba divers gather from all over the world. The Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve boasts 56 mammal species, 7 fish species, 23 Amphibian species and 33 Reptile species. Birdlife is also abundant with over 300 confirmed species. The reserve has an interesting variety of indigenous flora which can be viewed along a 12km road. Visitors can also enjoy the pleasant picnic area.
The ever famous croc world is providing close-up viewing of crocodiles in their natural environment and visiting the park is a whole wildlife experience. Boasting abundant indigenous birdlife, including fish eagle and flamingos, fascinating reptiles and snakes.
