Johannesburg Property - Gauteng
Johannesburg is the capital of Gauteng. Called Joburg by the locals
and nicknamed "egoli" (place of gold), Johannesburg dates
back to 1886 when the main gold reef was discovered on the Witwatersrand.
Almost immediately, the Transvaal (as it was known then) was swamped
by diggers and fortune-seekers from near and far, creating a property boom in the area.
Mine dumps stand firmly as symbols of its rich
past, while modern architecture in the form of tall skyscrapers
contrast with Indian bazaars, rural dwellings and African 'muti'
(medicine) shops, where traditional healers (or sangomas) dispense
advice and traditional medicine. The busy streets bustle with fruit
sellers and street vendors.
An exciting blend of ethnic and Western art and cultural activities
is reflected in theatres and open-air arenas, throughout the city.
Johannesburg offers a wide variety of real estate opportunities in the form of sales and rental: including security villages, apartments, houses,
cluster developments, security villages, vacant land and guesthouses.
