Named after the mother of Johannes Brand, four-time President of the Orange Free State, Ladybrand began in 1869 as a cave church. Ladybrand lies in the fertile Caledon Valley overlooking the Maluti & Drakensberg Mountain range.

A sandstone bridge that was built during the Anglo Boer war can still be seen. A fossilized Dinosaur footprint, the only one of it's kind in South Africa, is found in Ladybrand.
Ladybrand and Clocolan are situated in the Eastern Free State, on a main route (R26) linking the Cape and Garden Route, to KwaZulu Natal, Gauteng and Mpumalanga. The Southern Highlands also link South Africa and the mountain kingdom of Lesotho.
Each season in Ladybrand offer its own attractions; roaring, open log fires in winter, cherry blossoms and then the succulent fruit in spring, hot summer days and golden autumn sunsets.
