A Brief History

The Seeff brand has been the people’s preferred and trusted choice in Real Estate for over 50 years and Seeff Strand is no different, leading the way in the industry for over 23 years. With our offices based on Beach Road in Strand, Seeff Strand is often referred to as a landmark by the greater Helderberg community because it is situated in an area that can be described as the perfect blend of hustle and bustle mixed in with the tranquil surroundings of the beachfront.
Seeff Strand was originally founded by the late Kobus Lubbe, in the year 2000. During the property boom of the early 2000s, Kobus, together with his life partner, Eldie Gerber, took the property market to new heights, spending most of their time selling out many well-known developments such as Villa Castello, Gulden Park, Broadway, Atlanta, Chianti Heights and more.
In 2008 Alten Vermaak started his journey in Real Estate under the mentorship and guidance of Mr. Lubbe. At the time, the world was facing an economic slump that negatively affected the property market. Despite this challenge, Mr Vermaak continued to flourish in his role as a Real Estate Agent and he continued to contribute to the growth of the company, all whilst developing key leadership skills which would successfully guide him into his next role as Shareholder and Managing Director of Seeff Strand and Gordon’s Bay.
In 2018 the two branches split, and Mr. Vermaak went on to become the sole owner of Seeff Strand. Under his leadership, Seeff Strand experienced exponential growth in both sales and rentals, boasting the highest market share in both divisions - a sure indicator of Seeff Strand’s noticeable influence within the industry. In July 2023, Mr. Vermaak re-acquired the license for Seeff Gordon’s Bay and is confident that his dedicated and dynamic team will expand on this growth, whilst continuing to offer the great service clients have come to expect from the company.

Achievements and Accomplishments

The impact Seeff Strand has had on its clients and the brand is evident from the recognition the company has received at the Seeff National Awards throughout the years. Achieving numerous awards, such as, Rental Licensee of the Year and Most Improved Licensee of the Year, as well as receiving the honourable mention for being finalists for Licensee of the Year. These awards are just a further testament of commitment to service excellence.
Much of the success the company has experienced can be attributed to the implementation of diverse and innovative marketing concepts and initiatives that truly set us apart from our competitors. This, along with the trust clients place in us, has been instrumental in our market share recently growing to just over 20%, making Seeff Strand the undisputed market leader. Our dedicated sales team achieve, on average, 96% of the asking price for properties with the average time in the market being 8 weeks. This is often the result of clients placing their full trust in us by signing an exclusive mandate, achieving maximum exposure.
Since January 2021, Seeff Strand’s sales team have successfully facilitated the sale of over 300 properties, totaling close to R500 million in the Strand alone. Our agents have achieved record prices for many of their clients in several sectional title schemes and suburbs. Our rentals team currently manages over 250 properties on behalf of landlords. This speaks volumes about the dedication our agents have in fulfilling clients’ needs.

At Seeff Strand and Seeff Gordon’s Bay we believe in the value of giving back to the community; hence, we have been involved with many charity events and sponsorships. We have aided numerous charity organisations over the years, such as the Heartlands Baby Sanctuary, Helderberg Animal Welfare, Somerset West Night Shelter, STBB4GOOD and Badisa Strand, and more. In 2023 we initiated a sanitary drive for young girls, and through the help of the community, we managed to deliver thousands of sanitary products to four local schools: namely, Strand Sekonder, Rusthof LSEN School, Hoerskool Strand and Khanyolwethus Secondary School.
We have also assisted various of local businesses and event organisations with sponsorships, such as the inaugural Hart van Helderberg festival and Snow World, the very first snow park in the Western Cape, which was set up at our very own Water World in Strand. We also support local businesses when we treat our agents to breakfast or lunch at the surrounding restaurants to celebrate their successes in achieving their targets.

Strand and Gordon’s Bay

Nestled between the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland Mountains lies the picturesque coastal towns of Strand and Gordon’s Bay. Both towns offer buyers and tenants a most attractive lifestyle, with beautiful surroundings and easy access to shops, schools, and various points of interest. Families can enjoy the large entertainment areas offering putt-putt, water slides, a tidal pool, or a heated Olympic-sized swimming pool.
The Strand Golf Club is the perfect escape for a relaxing day on the greens, with a clubhouse that offers all the facilities one would expect from a modern and grand 18-hole golf course, surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Geographically, both Strand and Gordon’s Bay are only a short drive from the magnificent winelands of Somerset West and Stellenbosch. You can also enjoy one of the most spectacular coastal scenic drives starting from Gordon’s Bay and heading along Clarence Drive to Hermanus. The N2 also provides quick and easy access to both cities as well as the airport, Cape Town, and other major routes.
