A brief history of the area

During the 1840s, Thomas Fannin purchased 6,000 acres without having seen the land, which is now recognized as the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. Upon his arrival, he observed a striking resemblance to the Dargle Valley in his homeland of Ireland. As a result, he named the stream flowing through his new farm the Dargle, giving rise to the South African Dargle Valley.

Dargle residents looking to reach Pietermaritzburg Airport can do so in approximately 42 minutes (45 km) via the N3 and King Shaka International Airport is a one hour and 41-minute drive (140,2 km) via the N3 as well. Pietermaritzburg Central is 36 minutes away (35,4 km) via the N3.
