Sought-after Woodhill Estate still performing well
Jun 30, 2010

Woodhill Residential Estate & Country Club was established in March 1999 on what used to be a dairy farm, and is now one of Pretoria’s premier residential estates, featuring a secure environment and country feel together with state-of- the-art living. It boasts an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Peter Matkovich, shaped around more than 850 residential stands. A private school, Woodhill College, is adjacent to the estate offering quality education up to Grade 12, while a private hospital is situated opposite.

Rosa Willers of Seeff Pretoria East says properties in Woodhill are performing well compared with last year: “There has been an increase in sales volumes in the higher price brackets, especially between R5.5m and R7.5m.” The estate was voted as the most sought-after suburb in Pretoria by Finweek at the end of last year. “In addition,” she says, “this suburb showed the best growth in residential property in South Africa last year and was recently voted the best golf course by Beeld readers.”

This five-bedroom home which measures around 1000 m2 under roof was built for a large family and those who love entertaining. The style of this home is timeless, and can be changed into modern or authentic, depending on the type of furniture and decor.

Priced at R8.95m, it offers two en suite main bedrooms, and a further three bedrooms that share two bathrooms. There is a study on the first level and a studio on the ground level, with four entertainment/living areas. The large, well-designed kitchen boasts both gas and electric stoves along with two electric ovens. In the middle of the kitchen is a working island with basin and plug points. There is also a separate scullery and huge pantry. The kitchen and the dining room are divided by a sleeper-wood counter which works as a serving area.

The patio includes a mahogany built-in bar as well as built-in braai and separate gas unit for a Chinese wok braai. There are three large garages with sleeper-wood garage doors that lead straight into house, double staff accommodation and an established garden with irrigation system. The house also boasts a wine cellar with temperature regulation for 3000 bottles of wine. The front door, also made from solid sleeper wood, stands two storeys high. The current owners really appreciate the views over the rimflow pool and golf course.

Pricing for an entry-level homes in the estate starts at R3.3m, while mid-level homes sell for about R4.5m, and top-end homes at between R7.5m and R12m.
